If we were to search for a person who is endowed with a remarkable talent or exceptional intelligence; someone who is a perfect embodiment of quality or class with amazing mental and creative ability, that person is Barrister Wakil Oyedemi, a proudly Nigerian Oyo indigene.
There are very few of his kind in the world. I have gone to great lengths to understand this enigma by doing an internet search on “quintessence” and “genius” – two nouns – as they relate to Wakil Oyedemi, a distinguished Nigerian legal icon in the mould of some of the world’s best known philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Confucius, Rene Descartes, Ralph Waldo Emerson, David Hume, Immanuel Kant, Thomas Aquinas, Karl Max and John Locke.
When you want to see profound humility in the face of utmost success, you will have to turn to Barrister Wakil Oyedemi, Oyo State born philanthropist and Politician.
Barrister Oyedemi, despite his wealth lives a Spartan life , dedicated to the uplift of the downtrodden and touching of the lives of the hewers of wood and the drawers of water.
His kind of generosity finds expression in the biblical injunction, that what you give with your right hand ,your left hand should not know about it.
He is not like structural political givers who will call the Press and share commodities and money in election times, kin to acting, but in real life they are the definitions of stinginess.
Barrister Oyedemi’s benevolence is natural and real and he makes no noise about it.
Bill Clinton the 43rd President of the United States said, ”your Character is the greater collateral, you can give to a People.”
Barrister Oyedemi’s character is unimpeachable and unblemished in his service to the State and Mankind.
What is more, as a distinguished Legal Practitioner, Oyedemi is orally articulate, with good written communication skills and also a good listener, thus making him to argue convincingly in the courtroom before the jurists.
A gentleman with good public speaking skill, he is able to write clearly, persuasively and concisely with good listening skills.
Oyedemi is gifted with he ability to draw reasonable, logical conclusions or assumptions from limited information and is able to consider these judgements critically.
Oyedemi is personable, persuasive and able to read others. This allows him to gauge juror’s reactions and the honesty of witnesses.
It also affords him the opportunity to decide upon the best approach to take in order to achieve the desired
outcome.
He knows that Law is not an abstract practice, as lawyers work with people, on behalf of people, and the decisions that are made affect people’s lives.
On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, a renowned shipping magnate, Chief Isaac Jolapamo, and Barrister Oyedemi paid a courtesy visit on His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye Oba [Dr.] Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo, in his ancent Palace.
At the meeting, Oba Adeyemi pledged his unflinching support for Barrister Wakil Oyedemi in the 2023 Senatorial race for Oyo Central Senatorial District.
Alaafin described Barrister Oyedemi as ‘’ dutiful, higly intelligent, amiable, resilient, and awesome person”.
Oba Adeyemi cited among his reasons, Barrister Oyedemi’s pedigree of being from a prominent traditional Chieftaincy family of Baale Akeetan ruling house in Oyo, which is known for its valour and unwavering loyalty to the revered institution of the Alaafin.
He also pointed out Barrister Oyedemi’s un-relentless interest in the development of Oyo and the empowering of the people, most especially in the areas of scholarship awards for indigent but brilliant students, which spanned several years.
What is more, the Paramount Ruler recalled Barrister Oyedemi’s demonstration of uncommon maturity in the aftermath of the last Senatorial race which led to the emergence of Senator Teslim Folarin, and how Oyedemi whole-heartedly took his advice with magnanimity.
Said he, “since that time, Barrister Oyedemi remained the most consistent and strongest pillar of APC in Oyo Federal Constituency by funding the party on a continuous basis from his own hard earned income and without occupying any political post or enjoying any benefit from the government.
“Barrister Oyedemi’s highest demonstration of unalloyed loyalty to his party is an example worthy of emulation’’.
“My endorsement and support for Barrister Wakil Oyedemi as the next Senator for Oyo Central Senatorial District is premised on the fact that though Oyedemi is a highly educated and articulate Attorney at Law who is widely recognised in the United States of America and Nigeria, his love for his hometown, Oyo, and fatherland as a whole has been a source of inspiration to the rural populace.
“This is because of his kind gesture to them and which he has continuously demonstrated at all times with uncommon humility’’.
Earlier, Chief Isaac Jolapamo expressed appreciation for the Alaafin’s devotional prayer and particular interrst in the candidature of Barrister Wakil Oyedele come 2023 Senatorial election.
“Getting Kabiyesi’s public acknowledgment is not easy, but a rare blessing to come by. I am indeed grateful Kabiyesi Iku Baba Yeye”.
Barrister Oyedemi also reiterated his commitment to continue to be a strong pillar for the All Progressives Party APC), and continue to wax stronger.
While appreciating the opportunity afforded them by the Alaafin, Oyedemi who assured that APC shall be the winning party in 2023, thanked Oba Adeyemi for finding himself and Chief Isaac Jolapamo worthy of being attended to despite his tight schedule, pledged not to disappoint the Paramount Ruler for his royal support, an enthusiastic Barrister Wakil Oyedemi said.
