Olajide Olusina Olatoye, elder brother of late former lawmaker representing Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency, Olatoye Temitope Sugar, has denied insinuation that he is being sponsored by those in the opposition against the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Big Daddy, as Olajide is popularly known, said the rumour was the handiwork of mischief makers.
It has come to our notice that some faceless individuals are peddling rumour that our principal, the Masses’ aspirant for the House of Representatives under our great party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, Hon. Olajide Olusina Olatoye popularly known as Big Daddy Sugar is being bankrolled and sponsored by a member of an opposition party in Oyo State.
We are made bold to say that, this is a blatant lie and a figment of enemies’ imagination and that of their paymaster who is an unpopular contender in the race.
Hon. Olajide Olatoye is a known socialite, a retired teacher and a businessman of note with interest in real estate, business financing, haulage and logistics locally and abroad. It is therefore inconceivable and absurd to think that someone with lawful business undertaking, good living with sound integrity like Hon. Olatoye would be alleged to have taken financial succour from an opposition party or their cohorts.
It is also pertinent to note that, Olatoye family is a noble one in Ibadanland, the family is credible, reliable and has never been found wanting of double-dealing either within their immediate community or Oyo State political terrain. Their patriarch, Pa O.A Olatoye at 88years of age has contributed immensely to the development of Lagelu and Ibadan at large and was an awardee of Lagelu Indiges Club and the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) Meritorious Award in 2014.
Late Temitope Olatoye Sugar, a great Philanthropist, erudite lawmaker and political stalwart who was assassinated on 2019 Governorship election day in a politically fuzzy circumstance was also known for his sagacity, bravery, credibility and loyalty to his people and political associates at all times. His political position at any point was NEVER in doubt even till death.
Therefore, Hon. Olajide Olatoye is loyal to our Governor whose administrative prowess has made him a National Leader of our great party, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde. Hon. Olatoye is a great financier of PDP in his Ward 13 of Lagelu LGA and the Federal Constituency at large. He has supported many party members at varying point of needs, help youth and women secure placements in public and private services and would never trade his loyalty to the party or Gov. Seyi Makinde, FNSE on financial ground.
We are also pertubed with a report that one of the incumbent Executive Chairmen in our Federal Constituency singlehandedly held a meeting with some delegates in respect of the upcoming primary election that, the Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE through one of his aides, our highly respected Otunba Seye Famojuro has already anointed an aspirant to be favoured and the proposed primary election is just a charade. This is a political blunder (Ibon Oselu) to malign the personality of our amiable Governor and a calculated evil intent to cause a frosty relationship between GSM & Otunba Seye Famojuro. It is in the public domain that, the Governor sought for consensus from political leaders and aspirants in all the 14 Federal Constituencies of Oyo State despite having the power to impose candidates but did not do so. However, as a democratic leader, he has approved unbiased primary election at places where leaders and aspirants could not reach a consensus and Akinyele/Lagelu is one of them. If the Governor would have had preference for any aspirant, with all sense of modesty, it would have been our aspirant, Hon. Olajide Olatoye who has unalloyed loyalty to GSM, immensely supported PDP & most importantly, he lost his late brother, Hon. Olatoye Sugar on this political struggle; on a day that the entire PDP family and Oyo State were rejoicing of Omituntun’s Mandate and fresh of breath air but the Sugar’s Dynasty and family were in tears and acute depression. However, the Governor has asked every candidate in our Federal Constituency to test his/her popularity for the party to field the best hand so as to win all elections for PDP in our Federal Constituency but to our greatest astonishment, the said Executive Chairman defiled Governor’s instruction and blatantly lied to misinform our people, discredit the personality of Otunba Seye Famojuro and deny the PDP of a popular candidate with the capacity to win at the general election.
We therefore appeal to great delegates and entire members of PDP in Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency and our leaders at different levels to disregard the libelous pieces above and stand with God’s Divine Mandate tagged “Liberation 2023”
