The muslim community in Oyo town over the weekend became the latest beneficiaries of both Dr. Yunus Akintunde and Engr. Idris Adeoye’s milk of kindness as they donated handsomely to project execution and completion.
Both illustrious indigenes of Oyo town donated the sum of five million to the completion of projects at the Oyo central mosque while the League of Imams and Alfas got one million naira. The donations were made immediately after the Jumah prayer.
While Akintunde, a former commissioner, is aiming to contest the 2023 Oyo central senatorial district election, Adeoye is a philanthropist committed to community development. Both are leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.
This was just as the duo also held a special iftar for party men and women after meeting with stakeholders and community leaders within the ancient town.
The duo, who spoke shortly after the visits, said that though it was a normal thing to do for them as they are part of the community.
Saying that they cannot do it all, they explained that they only contributed their widow’s mite to the execution and completion of some ongoing project.
They urged well-meaning Muslims to also contribute anything they can to see to the face lifting of the mosque.
Alhaji Abideen Abolore, who spoke on behalf of the chief Imam of Oyo, Sheikh Mosh’ud Ajokidero, thanked the duo for what they have always been doing for the muslim community in Oyo and Muslims.
According to him, such gesture has never happened in the history of the mosque and it came at a very crucial time and promise the money would be judiciously used.
