Oyo State commissioner for environment and water resources, Kehinde Ayoola, has revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde is re-invigorating the private sector partnership, PSP, concept in waste management as part of the new solid waste architecture for the state.

This is just as he accused the administration of former governor Abiola Ajimobi, for being the brain behind the environmental  problem the state is facing.

It would be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had last week declared emergency of waste management in the state. He later led members of this cabinet to a late night clean-up exercise in Ibadan, the state capital.

Acoording to Ayoola, who was a former speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, the immediate past administration removed the garbage bins away from the streets, adding that no plausible reason was given for the exercise.

Revealing that the current administration is returning the garbage bins to the streets, he explained that “We must not forget that if the past government, having the grace of being in office for 8 years, had put in place a sustainable waste management system, we would not be where we are now.

“Maybe someone from that end should tell us what the Ajimobi administration bequeathed as a positive legacy in the waste management sector? Absolutely nothing. Except a ‘prodigalistic’ frittering away of about N52million monthly payout to WestAfricaENRG for doing us the ‘favour’ of clearing our road medians,” he added.
