The statement read: “I, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Abodunrin Oyetunji Kofoworola Olakanla II, the Ààrẹ́ of Ago-Are, on behalf of the Ààrẹ́-in-Council, traditional chiefs, Ifelodun Ago-Are Parapo, eminent sons and daughters, and the entire people of Ago-Are in Atisbo Local Government Area, Oyo State, express profound appreciation to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, for his approval of the construction of the MOPOL 72 Base in Ago-Are.

“This commendable gesture by the Oyo State Government demonstrates once again Governor Makinde’s visionary leadership, proactive approach to governance, and his unwavering commitment to the safety, peace, and progress of the people of Oyo State.

“The establishment of the MOPOL 72 Base in Ago-Are is of immense strategic importance. It represents a decisive step toward fortifying security architecture in Oke Ogun and ensuring swift response to emerging security challenges in the region. For decades, the Oke Ogun axis has served as a major link between Oyo State, neighbouring states and even countries, therefore, this development will significantly enhance security along these critical routes and border communities.

“Beyond the direct benefits of improved safety and law enforcement presence, this initiative is expected to stimulate economic activities, attract investors, and reassure residents, farmers, traders, and travelers of their safety. The presence of the Mobile Police Base will also complement ongoing community policing efforts and foster closer collaboration between security agencies and traditional institutions in maintaining peace and order.

“We also extend appreciation to the Oyo State Security Council, the Nigeria Police Force, and all relevant agencies involved in the planning and approval processes for their dedication and responsiveness to the security needs of our people.

“As the traditional ruler and custodian of the heritage of Ago-Are, I reaffirm our community’s unwavering support for the administration of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and pledge continued cooperation with the Oyo State Government and security agencies in ensuring the successful execution of this laudable project.

“This approval is not only a recognition of the strategic importance of Ago-Are within the Oke Ogun region but also a reassurance of the government’s commitment to inclusive development and even distribution of state resources across all zones.

”On behalf of the good people of Ago-Are, I once again thank His Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, for this remarkable intervention and pray that Almighty God continues to grant him wisdom, strength, and good health to pilot the affairs of our dear state to greater heights.”
