He also stated that only Alhaji Ayinla Kollington and the late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister are his ‘fathers’ in the music industry.

Obesere, as he is fondly called, revealled this while speaking in Ibadan-based radio station, Splash FM on Friday evening.

“If you ask me the position I am after Kollington in the industry. It is only Barrister and Kollington that are our Fathers in the industry.

“God created me be to be a boss. He does not give me the space to stand behind someone else and he gave me everything God gives a boss and I am contented.

“I swear the day I wanted to accept someone smaller than me as boss it was a mad man that warned me against it. The mad man was walking by the roadside when he said ‘you must not accept’. It was in 2007. The madman came to me in a corner where I was hiding to avoid people,” he said.

The veteran musician also explained that he was initially reluctant to accept the position of the paramount king of music due to the controversy in the industry at that period but he later changed his mind after he was persuaded and made to understand the uniqueness of the honourarary title.

When asked when he became a professional musician, he said, “If you are talking about when I started making profits from Fuji, it is 1983.”

Reacting to a question about the step he is taking to immortalize the late Fuji king, Ayinde Barrister, he said:”Speaking about Barrister, he died but it does not look like he is dead. There is no other cause for that other than because God created him specially.

“Everytime they organize an elaborate event to celebrate him like Felebration the organizers don’t carry everybody along. I always impolore the organizers to let us pick a date to celebrate him together because I am playing a serious role to ensure he is immortalized.

“I am always consistent with the stand I take and as such I prefer to say the truth than any other thing.”

He maintained that he has continued to be a rave in industry because of God’s grace and truthfulness noting thaf” If someone purchases a car, we should not be annoyed. We should only pray to be able to that too.”

When asked which of songs has consumed his energy most, he said, “All my songs use to consume my energy but I thank God I have never regretted any of it.

Speaking on his latest song titled standout, he said,”I spent 7 months to work on Standout. I started working on it during the outbreak of Coronavirus because I know people will dance to a song once the pandemic is over. Luckily for me I have a studio in my house.”

Obesere’s latest song, standout, was released on the 27th of July this year.
