After I was sworn in as Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government in August 2011, one of the first projects I embarked on was the construction of the education building in the council secretariat.

This was after I found out that the staff of the education department didn’t have enough office space to work. In three months we built a big block of offices with enough space for staff of the department and other departments.

In September 2011 when schools resumed, we printed exercise books for pupils of all the 74 public primary schools in Ibadan North LG then and I personally, with the local government staff and party leaders, distributed six exercise book each to pupils, making sure that every primary school pupil had exercise books to write notes in school, thereby reducing the burden on their parents.

We continued with the exercise book distribution every September till I left office and I made sure that the contracts for the printing of the books were awarded to printers within the local government so as to empower them.

Furthermore, we built blocks of classrooms, with teacher’s office in many schools including,
CAC School 2, Sango, Ibadan
C an S, New Eden Primary School, Bodija and
Methodist Primary School 2, New Bodija
to mention a few.

We also constructed a block of toilets at the School For The Deaf, Ijokodo.

My administration was the first to give bursaries to students of higher institutions that were from Ibadan in years. Moreover, we sank a borehole at Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, University of Ibadan and facilitated the recruitment of teachers for schools in the local government.

To be continued.
