Six-Month-Old Baby Missing In Oyo, Parents Seek Help
A couple in Oyo State have appealed to security agencies and members of the public to help locate their six-month-old son, Faaiz, who reportedly disappeared from their home in Erunmu, Egbeda Local Government Area.
The baby was said to have gone missing on September 16 while sleeping beside his mother, Asimau Olasunkanmi, who discovered his absence when she woke up before dawn to breastfeed him.
Speaking with The PUNCH, Olasunkanmi said a search of the house yielded no result until another child sleeping close to a window noticed that the net covering it had been cut.
She suspected that the person who took the baby might have gained entry through the window, which was not fitted with burglary-proof bars.
The mother said she had been in the house with her three children and did not know when anyone entered the building. She added that the residence had no perimeter fence.
The child’s father, Taiwo Isiak, said the family reported the incident at the Ogungbade Police Station, after which the case was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Dugbe, Ibadan, for investigation.
Isiak expressed concern over what he described as a lack of recent communication from the investigators, saying the family had continued efforts to find their son.
He said the last feedback they received from the police was that the investigation was ongoing.
A family friend, Akinyode Waliyulah, confirmed that the incident had been reported to the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Waliyulah said the window suspected to have been used by the person who took the baby had no burglary-proof bars, adding that the family remained hopeful of his safe recovery.
The family appealed to anyone with useful information about Faaiz’s whereabouts to assist in finding him.
