WGGF Celebrates Alli On International Day Of Girl Child, Distributes 500 Books At Alma Mater

The Women for Greater Good Foundation (WGGF) has celebrated Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli for his contributions to the advancement and empowerment of the girl child, distributing 500 copies of a guidebook to schoolgirls at his alma mater.

The distribution took place on Thursday, October 8, 2026, as part of activities marking the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child.

The books, titled Empowered Flow: The Girl Child Guide to Understanding Her Body and Owning Her Story, were distributed to educate and empower girls on issues relating to their bodies, menstrual health, self-worth and personal development.

In a statement signed by its Founder and Executive Director, Fatima Hassan, the foundation said Alli’s support for initiatives promoting girls’ welfare and opportunities reflected the role of male allies in advancing the rights and aspirations of young girls.

The foundation described the senator as a supporter of the girl child, noting that his contributions went beyond his legislative responsibilities to making a difference in the lives of young people.

Hassan, who authored the book, said the publication was designed to help girls understand their bodies, build confidence and make informed decisions about their futures.

The initiative, according to the foundation, forms part of its ongoing commitment to ensuring that girls have access to information and the support needed to grow, learn and achieve their potential.

The 2026 International Day of the Girl Child is being marked under the theme, “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights,” which calls for stronger efforts to protect girls, expand their opportunities and safeguard their future.

The foundation urged leaders, institutions and individuals to take practical steps towards protecting girls’ rights and investing in their education and wellbeing, stressing that every girl deserves the opportunity to thrive.
