Oyo APC Chair Adeyemo Lauds Tegbe On Improved Power Supply, Party Commitment

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Dr Moses Alake Adeyemo, has commended the Minister of Power, Engineer Joseph Tegbe, over the reported improvement in electricity supply across the country and his commitment to the success of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Adeyemo attributed the improvement in power supply to what he described as the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to reviving critical sectors of the economy, expressing confidence that Tegbe would not disappoint Nigerians.

The APC chairman, who served as Oyo State Deputy Governor between 2011 and 2019, spoke on Monday at the party’s Oke-Ado, Ibadan secretariat when he led members of the State Executive Committee to receive Tegbe on a thank-you visit.

Tegbe visited the party leadership following the support he received from APC leaders, members and supporters in Oyo State after his appointment by President Tinubu as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The minister, who assumed office in July, thanked Tinubu for finding him worthy of the responsibility of addressing challenges in the power sector. He also appreciated eminent citizens and APC stakeholders in Oyo State for supporting his nomination.

Tegbe said the level of support he received following his appointments had strengthened his commitment to the progressive family and serving humanity, adding that the Tinubu administration was determined to address challenges in the power sector.

“President is determined to fix problems in the power sector and we are not leaving any stone unturned to achieve this goal. Nigerians can testify to the considerable improvement in electricity supply nationwide in recent weeks, but we have not got to where we want to be,” he said.

He said several power projects were ongoing across the country, adding that the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway would have full installation of solar-powered street lights in the coming weeks, while mini solar grids would be constructed at six locations in Oyo State.

Tegbe also said the Ogbomoso project was nearing completion, while challenges faced by contractors had been addressed. He added that the Saki project, aimed at addressing longstanding electricity challenges in Oke-Ogun and the Ibarapa axis, was also receiving attention.

On the 2027 elections, Tegbe pledged to work towards the re-election of President Tinubu and support all APC candidates, adding that he had begun discussions with some aggrieved governorship aspirants to resolve outstanding issues.

He also said the party would work with various support groups, describing their activities as being in the interest of the APC and the country.
