 EXCLUSIVE: 81 Days After Deadline, Chairmanship Candidates Selected By Makinde Begin ‘Manual’ Membership Registration

Afraid of imminent disqualification, chairmanship and councillorship candidates belonging to the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, faction of ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state, today began registration as members of the party, OYOINSIGHT.COM can report.

This is coming days after the party candidates backed by the state executives dragged the national leadership of the APM to court for allegedly planning another primaries for August 5 after the one it did on August 3, 2026.

Before today, most of the chairmanship and councillorship candidates picked by the governor aren’t registered members of the APM.

OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that the party had concluded its membership registration nationwide on 26th May after initially starting the exercise on 5th day of the same month. It had followed it with a governorship and presidential primaries which produced Abimbola Adekanmbi and Makinde on the 26th and 28th of May, 2026.

One of the party leaders who confirmed the development said the former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who now calls himself the chairman of PDP/APM coalition and who got registered  was the one who registered Sarafadeen Onijo, who was picked by the Makinde faction to contest the chairmanship of Saki west local government.

Their registration is coming days after they had been selected as candidates of their faction of the APM.
