The Campaign Organisation of Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Alli has dismissed as false and misleading a viral report claiming that the leading governorship aspirant has been disqualified ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries scheduled for Thursday, May 21.

The organisation described the report as the handiwork of political detractors and desperate opponents unsettled by Senator Alli’s intimidating political profile, growing acceptability and overwhelming support across the state.

A statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan by the media office of the aspirant stated categorically that Senator Alli remains fully cleared and duly qualified to participate in the party’s governorship primaries.

It added that the senator remains the leading and consensus aspirant in the race, enjoying massive support and strong followership among party leaders, stakeholders, youths, women and grassroots members across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.

According to the statement, no amount of propaganda, misinformation or sponsored fake news can diminish the popularity and political strength of the aspirant ahead of the crucial exercise.

“The viral story alleging the disqualification of Senator Sharafadeen Alli is entirely false, baseless and should be disregarded by all party faithful and members of the public.

“The fear of Senator Alli’s intimidating political profile and widespread acceptance within the APC is responsible for the fake information being circulated by desperate elements afraid of his growing momentum,” the statement said.

The campaign organisation reaffirmed confidence that Senator Alli would emerge victorious at the primaries and subsequently fly the flag of the APC in the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.

It expressed optimism that, by the grace of Almighty God and with the continued support of party members and the people of the state, the aspirant would also win the governorship election.

The organisation therefore urged APC members across the state to remain calm, focused and united, while ignoring rumours and distractions being spread in some quarters.

It further called on delegates and party members to come out en masse on Thursday to either affirm Senator Alli as the party’s consensus candidate or participate peacefully in the Direct Primary process.
