A significant milestone has been reached in the fight against period poverty and school absenteeism in Oyo State. The Women For Greater Good Foundation (WGGF), in partnership with Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has successfully concluded the third season of the “Flow with Dignity School Tour,” leaving a trail of empowerment across the Oyo South Senatorial District.
The tour, which has evolved into a life changing movement for thousands of students, exceeded its previous records this year. Building on the success of Season 2 which reached five thousand girls, Season 3 has successfully distributed ten thousand sanitary pads and specialized educational handbooks to teenage girls across the district.
The initiative has directly tackled the silent crisis of school absenteeism by providing these essential supplies.
Speaking on the impact of the project, the founder of Women for Greater Good Foundation , Fatima Hassan noted that the tour was designed to tackle the root causes of girl-child school absenteeism. “We didn’t just give out pads, we gave these girls their dignity back,” she stated. “By providing both the products and the knowledge, we are ensuring that no girl in Oyo South has to stay home because of a natural biological process.”
Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli widely hailed as a champion for girl-child health has ensured that no girl in his constituency is forced to stay home due to a lack of hygiene products.
The impactful tour made strategic stops across nine local government areas, including:
- Ibadan North, North West, South East, and North East.
- Ido.
- Ibarapa North, East, and Central.
Beyond the distribution, the tour delivered life-changing sessions on menstrual hygiene, sex orientation, and girl-child rights. With the support of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and International federation of women Lawyers (FIDA), the project has equipped students with the confidence to stay in school and the knowledge to protect their futures.
- As the 2026 school session continues, the “Flow with Dignity school tour “stands as a testament to what purposeful leadership and advocacy can achieve. For many girls in Oyo South, the barrier of period poverty has been broken, replaced by the dignity to learn and the power to lead.
