Neighbouring governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun and his Rivers counterpart, Siminalayi Fubara won’t be attending today’s ongoing convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, OYOINSIGHT.COM has confirmed.
“Governor Adeleke won’tattend the convention. He’s staying away so as to keep options of running for the 2026 governorship election on another party open, a source close to Adeleke told OYOINSIGHT.COM.
This newspapers understand that only four of the PDP governors— Bauchi (Bala Mohammed), Zamfara (Dauda Lawal), Adamawa (Ahmadu Fintiri) and Oyo (Seyi Makinde) are at the convention.
It was learnt that the Osun delegates arrived early Saturday morning, only to learn that Adeleke wouldn’t be attending. The first sign that the governor, who is seeking a second term, would not attend surfaced during the commissioning of the Ibadan central bus terminal.
