The lawmaker representing Ibadan Southwest/Northwest federal constituency, Hon Dhikirulahi Adedeji Olajide Odidi Omo, has expressed his condolences on the passing of Ibadan’s senior chief, Lateef Oyelade.
In a statement released on Saturday, Odidi Omo also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Ibadan socialite.
Until his passing on Friday morning, Oyelade held the titles of Ekefa Olubadan and Babaasale Musulumi of Ibadanland.
The federal lawmaker described the late Oyelade as one of the individuals who embodied the entrepreneurial spirit of Ibadan.
“Ibadan has lost yet another patriarch. Senior Chief Lateef Oyelade was an extraordinary man who lived an extraordinary life, with a story for every occasion.
“To learn of his passing was a shock to me. He was a remarkable individual. His departure, we believe, is in accordance with God’s timing. He was a genius of his era. We have lost our mentor, father, patriarch, and the person who saw potential in us.
“Late Oyelade didn’t focus on people’s weaknesses; he recognized their strengths and nurtured them. He always aimed for excellence, and mediocrity was never a part of his character. He paid meticulous attention to the smallest details, reflected even in his attire.
“I extend my deepest condolences to both the immediate and extended families of the late Senior Chief, the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Balogun, the Ibadan traditional institution, the Muslim community, and all well-meaning Sons and Daughters of Ibadan.
I pray that the Almighty Allah grants late Lateef Oyelade Aljanat Fridaus and gives us all the strength to bear this loss,” Odidi Omo offered in his prayer.
