The crucial match between Bendel Insurance and the 3SC was postponed after first half of the game following a heavy downpour of rain. The remaining 45 minutes will be played this morning at 9am.
Political leaders in Edo State from both the Peoples Democratic Party and the ruling All Progressives Congress had shunned their differences to cheer the Bendel Insurance team to victory.
Among those present were Governor Godwin Obaseki, Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, Hon Ogbeide Ihama, Dennis Idahosa, General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), members of the State Executive Council amongst others.
The visiting 3SC team is leading by one goal which was scored by Isaka Mutiu at the second minute of play on Sunday afternoon. At the start of the second half, weather became cloudy and visibility at the UNIBEN Sports complex was poor.
After consultations, the match officials decided to postpone the match to Monday November 5.
Commenting on the match, Oyo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Yomi Oke, expressed confidence that the 3SC would defeat the home team. He said the pitch was not good enough for optimal performance of his team.
The replay will begin at 9 am this morning.
