Bolaji Badmos, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Badmos, who represented Akinyele state constituency 2 between 2015 and 2019, on the platform of the APC, confirmed this to OYOINSIGHT.COM last night.
Before joining PDP, he was the assembly candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Akinyele-2 before the coalition that brought in ‘Seyi Makinde as governor in 2019 affected him and others. Badmos was part of those that lost their re-election due to the coalition arrangements between Olufemi Lanlehin, governorship candidate of the ADC and Makinde in the 2019 polls.
According to Badmos, he joined APC because he has always been a fan of Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the APC in next month’s election. He added that he was happy to be reunited with his old progressive family, adding that he would team up with others to ensure victory for Tinubu and other candidates of the party in the coming elections.
”Let it be clear, I have always been an enthusiast of Asiwaju and I believe that my impact will fully be felt working for him and other APC candidates in the same party,” he told OYOINSIGHT.COM.
He revealed that he and majority of his colleagues neither received patronage nor recognition from Makinde while they were in the PDP.
“Let it be known that myself and a lot of my colleagues did not receive any patronage and recognition from both Governor Seyi Makinde and the PDP as a party, hence my movement back home which is the APC,” he said.
Only recently, Badmos’ colleague from Ibadan North state constituency 2, Olusegun Olaleye, who contested the PDP house of representatives ticket for the 2023 election, returned to the APC. Olaleye and Badmos were parts of those who lost their elections due to ADC’s coalition with Makinde in 2019.
