Hon. Olugbenga Ojoawo’s bid to represents the people of Ibarapa North/ Central federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Abuja, has hit the rock.
His people adopted his kinsman, a former chairman of Ibarapa Central local government, Hon. Ademola Ojo, as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in next year’s National Assembly election.
Embattled Ojoawo had lobbied people to get Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s support but it was too late. Iloko, as Ojoawo is popularly known, had teamed up with the Unity Forum, the breakaway faction of the APC, before he retraced his step. OYO INSIGHT learnt that the governor and the leadership of the party find it hard to forgive him.
Ijaya, as Ojo is popularly called, was state chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON during the reign of former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala. He joined APC earlier this year after completing his job as caretaker secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun.
This newspaper was unable to confirm whether Iloko would join the Action Democratic Party, ADP as at the time of filing this story.
