Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, has been trapped and so, would be difficult for him to be re-elected in 2023, Teslim Folarin, governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has said.

OYOINSIGHT.COM recalls that Folarin had, during a visit to Lagelu local government in the beginning of the current administration, said that his party had set two traps for Makinde and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The Ibadan senior chief, who is representing Oyo central senatorial district for a record third term spoke yesterday when the APC received defecting members of the ruling PDP, African Democratic Congress, ADC and Accord at an elaborate ceremony in Ibadan, the state capital.

Beaming with smiles and lacing his speech with proverbs, Folarin said that the Makinde administration has drawn the state backward by 8 years with his leadership style, adding that he and others would make sure they use every democratic means to get him out of office in next year’s election.

”The last time I was on a tour of Lagelu local government and I said I set two traps for his administration and they were busy shouting. The court case wasn’t trap. The real trap has caught him; he cannot escape it.

“Are we the one who asked him to deny his only senator and three-term reps member a return ticket? He signed one of our players recently and we knew what his allies like Dare Adeleke and Abass Oloko said about the person. Are we the ones who asked him to be fighting his benefactors? It is just a matter of months.

“Ibadan is dirty. Insecurity is on the high side. Education is not well-funded. The schools governing board established by our late leader is what he has resorted to. He is just doing everything with anger. We are the gains of the billions he spent on agriculture? Tell me what he has done. It is not about white elephant’s projects?

”I am coming to restore a whole lot of things. It is like starting over. We should not have been here again. Former governor Abiola Ajimobi did a lot but it is so unfortunate that we have found ourselves here. I am coming fully prepared for the task. I am waiting for after our primaries when I would unveil our manifesto to the people of our dear state.

“The new defectors have equal rights as other members of the party have.

“There are still more coming. These are utility players anyone can be proud of. We just want to stagger it. Look at the quality players we are bringing into ten team. They are real politicians. They are winners. They are not used to losing. These are politicians we have brought into the fold. So, we are very happy.

“The defection was well impressive. Giving the fact of Ramadan that people fasted today, and they are tired, the turnout was very impressive.

“I also want to make a point that in APC today, when you join, you have equally rights and privileges with everyone. So, that is an attraction for them to come. So, there are more coming. These people will guarantee us victory.”
