OYHA: Julius Not From Saki West — Aspirants Reject Imposition, Call For Primaries

    Aspirants under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for Saki West State Constituency have said they are not in support of any purported consensus arrangement which led to the emergence of Honorable Femi Julius as the candidate of the party in the constituency.

    The aspirants, while calling for a free, fair and credible elections to determine the candidate of the party in the 2023 general election said Honourable Femi Julius is not an indigene of Saki Land.

    They said these in a statement made available to newsmen, on Wednesday, in Saki.

    They said Honorable Femi Julius is from Eruwa in Ibarapa East local government adding the good people of Saki will not make the mistake of reelecting him for a second term.

    The aspirants added that if imposed as the party’s candidate, it will spell doom for the party in the 2023 general elections.

    While making reference to 2019 general elections, they said Femi Julius was lucky to win the election with small margin with the help of the coalition agreement between the PDP and other political parties.

    The aspirants Barr. Hassan Ajibade, Mr Adekunle Koleosho, Mr Ayuba Bagbansoro, Mr Olabode Adeniyi, Mr Muizudeen Moshood Agbarikewu, Mr Seyi Olanrewaju, Mr Aderogba Malik Adedayo and
    Mr Adekola Wahab Sikirullah urged Governor Seyi Makinde and stakeholders to allow primary as it was agreed in Ibadan North I and II State Constituencies and others constituencies across the state.

    The statement read in part: “We are not in anyway in support of the imposition being regarded as consensus arrangement which led to the emergence of Honorable Femi Julius as the candidate of the party for Saki West State Constituency.

    “To start with, Honourable Femi Julius is not an indigene of Saki. He hails from Eruwa in Ibarapa East local government. Sons and daughters of Saki will not for the second time make another mistake of reelecting him. Forcing him on us as a candidate will spell doom for the party in the 2023 general elections.

    “While we commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his laudable projects in Saki and by extension Oke Ogun, we want to urge him and other leaders of the party to allow us go to poll to pick our candidate as he allowed Ibadan North I and II State Constituencies and others.”
