Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has inaugurated the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the Oyo State Road Safety Advisory Council in accordance with stipulated roles assigned to the Council.
The role of the newly Inaugurated group among others is to implement uniform standards on traffic enforcement, vehicle inspection, road signs and markings, personnel training and rescue administration.
The Chief of Staff (CoS) to Oyo State Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi who also doubles as the Chairman, Oyo State Road Safety Advisory Council in his inaugural speech at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State Secretariat, Ibadan on March 2nd (today) said the inauguration of the group became imperative and exigent in order to immediately drive the strategic plan.
He said, “You will recall that His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Oyo state Road Safety Advisory Council on 8th of Feb. 2022 with the aim of achieving among other things, setting state road strategies in line with the Nigerian Road Safety Strategy.
“Ensure coordination between state and local governments in achieving road safety targets, request for progress reports from relevant agencies, development of a funding plan for strategic initiatives, fund sourcing for implementation of strategic initiatives, and to ensure adequate representation of Oyo state at the National Technical Working Group.”
The Technical Working Group according to the CoS will be chaired by representative of Ministry of Public Works and Transports, Engr J.A Ajayi.
He charged the group to ensure adequate implementation of action plan and other strategic initiatives that may be introduced to further enhance safety on the roads across the state.
