The group in a statement made available by her coordinator, Hon. Ishola Akeem Adetoyese said; “I, on behalf of Oyo, Must Be Great (OMBG), want to commend Governor Makinde for showing his respect for rule of law and his will to honor the judgment won against him by the illegally removed local government chairmen and councilors upon his assumption in office through his Chief of Staff, Chief Bisi Ilaka.”

“Governor Makinde should then see the reason why he needs to be very careful legally when it comes to issues of constitutional matters, and should endeavor not to listen to many wrongs advises from many of his aides as that is the reason why the state government has to be indirectly serviced two sets of local government chairmen; the illegally removed ones and the illegally constituted caretaker committee during the legal battle between the government and ALGON led by Prince Abass Aleshinloye.”

“The group then want to further advise the governor on the scheduled May 22nd election in the state that; it will be legally wise and advisable for the governor to seek for the postponement of the election for some weeks to give the adequate room for the APC interested candidate to as well prepare and consequently contest the election on the rescheduled day. This is to further avoid another legal imbroglio that may still lead the state into another debt like the one he is looking for a way of settling the nearly N4billion (four billion nairas) debt of the illegally removed local government chairmen and their respective councilors.”

“We believe that; the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) Chairman, Barr. Iyiola Olagunju (SAN), is a legal luminary that should better understand the legal implication of conducting an election and disenfranchising a major political party in such an election. It will be very unwise to proceed with such an election with the present political situation of things arising from the Supreme Court Judgment.”

The group according to her coordinator; also commended the ALGON led by Ptince Abass Aleshinloye for its steadfastness and firm belief in the rule of law and sanctity of the courts by pursuing the case to the Supreme Court and secure the victory not only for ALGON but also for the entire states of the federation because the judgement would now serve as reference to all the recalcitrant state governors on the flagrant disobedience to constitution and rule of law.

It should be recalled that the supreme court delivered her judgment on the legal battle between the Oyo state government and the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) led by Prince Abass Aleshinloye, and where the ALGON won her case against the state government and awarded a compensation of their full salaries and allowances, and as well fine the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for erred the judgment of the high court on the illegal dissolution of the duly elected local government chairmen.
