The statement read: “Oyo Global Forum, on behalf of the good people of Oyo Federal Constituency, comprising Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East, Oyo West and the four LCDAs, would like to express a profound gratitude to His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State and his Executive Council for the resolution to upgrade Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, EACOED, Oyo, to a degree awarding institution to be known as Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo.

This development followed several years of our people’s advocacy that the institution be upgraded to enable a greater and more effective service in helping Oyo State, and indeed Nigeria, provide quality manpower needed in the education sector.

For us particularly in Oyo, this is indeed a commendable move by the government to further position Oyo Town as a centre of knowledge in the state at a time when the town is facing several issues of gang violence, unemployment/underemployment.

We are convinced of the remarkable kindness of His Excellency, Governor Makinde, towards Oyo. This conviction is informed by his demonstrated commitments to Akesan Market reconstruction, the key road projects ongoing at terrific pace, and indeed this new development of EACOED upgrade, which will further unlock opportunities for our people and provide a space for our youth, thereby helping to combat crimes and social vices.

We would like to encourage His Excellency and his cabinet to spare no effort in following this development with the higher work of getting the necessary federal approvals to bring the upgrade to a full reality. Equally, we would like to humbly ask that the government should continue to commit energies towards the end the ongoing projects to ensure they are completed for public use soon.

The government should be rest assured that the good people of Oyo will continue to support its people-oriented and innovative steps.”
