A group working for the success of Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, has berated those saying that Engr. Seye Famojuro, is being the planned imposition of chairmanship and councilorship election in Oyo State.
The group, Makinde Minders, in a statement Saturday evening, by its spokesperson, Fakunle Jelil, described those mentioning the names of Famojuro as people who like calling dogs bad names.
It would be recalled that some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have been alleging Famojuro, a known ally of Makinde, of imposition.
But the group debunked the allegations, saying that “We are miffed by the constant allegation of favoritism against the person of Engr. Seye Famojuro. We don’t know when it has become a sin to be close to a governor? Engr. Seye Famojuro has been Governor Seyi Makinde’s man for close to two decades. Through thick and thin, they were together.
“For us, we believe Engr. Seye Famojuro would no do anything that is not in tandem with the vision and mission of the Governor Seyi Makinde administration. This is because he was part and parcel of the advent of the administration. His sin may be because he is accommodating.
“These people lying against Engr. Seye Famojuro are the same persons who had come to him for support but because he told them to go prepare for primaries, they resorted to blackmailing. While we will urge Engr. Seye Famojuro not to be angered by the new development, we will advise those rumour peddlers to ask for forgiveness from God.
“While would you want to soil the relationship between two individuals because of your own interests? Engr. Seye Famojuro has always told who care to listen that he is not the governor and does not have the kind of powers people think he has. Everybody within PDP is his person. Everybody who wins the primaries is his person. They should desist from dragging his name.
“Come to think of it; this is someone who has the means to tell Governor Seyi Makinde what he wants personally and he would get. He did not do that. Yes, he can advise the governor based on their relationship but it ends there. We cannot move forward by blackmailing people.
“For example, efforts by one of Engr. Seye Famojuro’s close allies, Hon. Kunle Yusuf, who is the SSA on SDGs, to get him one of his loyalists endorsed as candidate, was met with brick wall. He had told them to go prepare for primaries. Anybody can go crosscheck that fact. What else do they want again,” group asked.
