A group working for the promotion of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, Oke Ogun PDP Youth Vanguard,?has berated those who are calling for selection of candidates in the forthcoming local government chairmanship and councilorship elections, advising them to desist forthwith.
This is coming less than 24 hours after members of the party thronged the state secretariat to protest the planned selection of candidates for the election.
In a statement issued by chairman and secretary of the group, Deacon Kayode Ishola and Mr Muftau Onileola respectively, they warned that imposition of candidates may spell doom for the future fortune of the party if not checked.
“It is important that our leaders must learn from history, the recent of which was that of late former governor Abiola Ajimobi led APC government where members obtained party nomination form and the then administration did not allow primary to take place. The rest they say is history.”
This was just as the group applauded the ingenuity of Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State for his resolute and commitment to internal democracy and party discipline, urging all other leaders in the party to support him to actualise a transparent PDP local government primary slated for Monday 8th of march 2021.
