Three days after Trevor Pharmacy in Ibadan was robbed, officers of Agugu police station have allegedly refused to take any step to apprehend the perpetrators despite CCTV footage that captured the occurrence live.
According to a multi-award winning investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo who first reported the occurrence, “at about 8:40 pm on Wednesday, 2 two young men armed with locally-made guns strolled into Trevor Pharmacy, Old Ife Road, Ibadan & dispossessed a number of people of their belongings. They also left with some personal & company cash.
“Unfortunately for them, a CCTV camera captured them. The matter has been reported at Agugu Police Station but three days after, nothing has been heard from them.”
Speaking with OYOINSIGHT.COM, the Pharmacist on duty, who pleaded anonymity, explained that the occurrence was traumatic.
“it was around 8:39; we close by 9, we were already preparing to close and everyone was just there was no customer at that time. Two of them just entered. It was as if they want to buy something but they just brought out guns as it appeared in the CCTV videos.
“They collected my phones. They collected my ATM and they withdrew the money in my account before I could block it. The money in the account was just N10,000. I had N4,000 cash on me they collected the cash. The Salesboy and girl we were together, they collected his phone and the girl’s phone too. They were new phones because they just got it.
“They also collected N10,000 from the girl and took her bag also. Then, they collected the evening sales around N30,000.”
According to him, they reported the case to the Agugu police station early in the morning the next day and they all wrote their statement down. They were also promised that they will work on it.
However, three days after, the police had not come to the pharmacy at all. He noted that despite showing the police the CCTV footage of how the robbery occurred, “they have not taken any step on it.”
He also explained that the psychological effect of what happened still affects him to the extent that everywhere he is now, he feels like he will be attacked.
