A former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Barr. Muideen Olagunju, has said Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State needs to explain to the people of the State the terms and condition attached to the 100 billion naira bond which the State government wants to access to fix some critical infrastructure in the State.
The former lawmaker who stated that he is not a member of any political party for now spoke today on BOTTOMLINE, a weekly political programme on IBR 92.5fm Ibadan.
Stressing the need for accountability on the part of the state government, Olagunju says “all well meaning citizens of Oyo State should be bothered about this bond. We are talking of 100 billion naira here. We are not talking of N1 billion or N10 billion but M100 billion. That is huge and everyone should be concerned.”
He noted that it was a big mistake on the part of the government to have made its decision public before laying the proposal before the State House of Assembly.
Olagunju also alleged that the Oyo zone of the State has been neglected by the incumbent government.
“I am not talking of political appointments. These people the governor has appointed from Oyo Zone will leave office but whatever he does to the zone will outlive him. There are many uncompleted projects in Oyo zone. The governor should look into this”.
Earlier, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Fatai Adesokan, had also alleged that Makinde, contrary to his promise before he was voted as governor, awarded the circular road project to a construction company based in Asaba.

But a quantity surveyor who also featured on the programme, Babatunde Dosunmu, urged the APC to stop the campaign of calumny against the Makinde government adding that late former governor Abiola Ajimobi awarded the Poly-Ijokodo road rehabilitation project to an Asaba based-company.
He charged the opposition to be more concerned about what the Seyi Makinde government intends to spend the bond on than antagonizing its plan to take the bond in the first place.
