The chief of staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Chief Bisi Ilaka, a member of the house of representatives, Hon. ‘Yemi Taiwo who represents Ido/Ibarapa East federal constituency, caretaker chairmen of Omi-Apata and Ibadan East LCDAs, Sheriff Adeojo, and Babalola Abiodun respectively, have all come under attack from members of the public for ‘allegedly’ designing graphics to publicize and congratulate GovernorMakinde on his recovery from coronavirus.
The National Association of Polytechnic Students, NAPS, led by Comrade Adelere Benedict and the wife of the caretaker chairman of Akinyele local government, Mrs. Ajara Jumoke Jimoh, are also facing public scrutiny for the same reasons.
OYOINSIGHT.COM had earlier reported how the governor announced in a tweet on his official Twitter account on Sunday night that he has tested negative to coronavirus twice and he is set to resume to work.
However, on Tuesday morning, various graphics ‘allegedly’ sponsored by these individuals were shared on various social media platforms but the development did not go down well with a lot of people in the state.
Adedamola Layade, a graduate of economics from Babcock University, in a post on his facebook account wrote, “This is sycophancy on steroids because if they really care about Seyi Makinde they dont need to go to this disgraceful length to be noticed.”
Adelabu Labzy Adeola said that there is nothing bad in wishing the governor well and thanking God for his recovery but doing graphics and billboard is needless and those doing that only want to be noticed.
Another social media user, Abiodun Awodipe commented that ,”These are sycophants and praise singers. Why are you bothered at all. Sycophancy is as old as time and they give impression of undying love and loyalty as long as they keep milking their victims.
“As a leader, you must be weary of them because they give false impression to their victims that the world is falling in heels for him but just deny them of entitlements, then they show true colour. The Governor should be careful because he’s surrounded by these bootlickers.”
Olowofela Christiana also questioned the need for publicity and wondered if the people of Ido/Ibaapa deserve such behavior from their representative.
“The most annoying part is the recharge cards…shey na wetin ido/ibarapa people deserves be that ???” Her tweet read.
However, the official photographer to the governor, Jesse Onoride, who neither defended nor condemned the action of the politicians alleged that the critics were the ones who designed the congratulatory graphics.
“At this point I’m starting to think y’all are the ones designing these congratulatory messages for clout. E no kuku hard una to do, ” his tweet read.
