Udeme – an initiative of the Premium Times Center for Investigative Journalism has urged the people of the three senatorial districts in the Oyo state to follow up and monitor their respective Senators to ensure they deliver their constituency projects.
The organization which is a platform designed to hold government accountable on how funds for developmental projects are spent made the call in a series of publications on Friday.
According to Udeme, the Senator representing Oyo Central at the National Assembly, Teslim Folarin, has nominated three projects worth 250 million naira in the 2020 zonal intervention projects (ZIP).
A breakdown of what Folarin plan to do shows that 100 million naira is meant for the empowerment of cooperators in selected local government areas, 100 million naira for the empowerment of youth, women and vulnerable people in the industrial business environment, and 50 million naira for the supply of empowerment items to constituents.
The senator representing Oyo North, Fatai Buhari nominated projects worth 249 million in the zonal intervention projects for the year.
A breakdown shows that 100 million naira is meant for skill acquisition on merchandized, 75 million naira is for the supply of grinding machines, motorcycles, sewing machines, deep freezers and generators, and 74 million naira is meant for the training of youths on ICT.
Senator Kola Balogun of Oyo South senatorial district nominated projects worth 199 million naira.
A breakdown shows that the first-term senator plans to spend 50 million naira for the provision of health care facilities, 49 million for the repair of roads, 50 million for the construction and renovation of primary and secondary schools, and 50 million nairas for procurement and installation of 50kva transformer and solar street lights.
The organization urged the people of the three senatorial districts in the state to get involved and ask questions for social accountability.
