Following allegations by a former attorney general and commissioner for justice, Asiwaju Adebayo Mutalubi Ojo, that his life was threatened, Prince Akinbiyi has come out to say he never threatened him

OYOINSIGHT.COM had last week reported how Ojo alleged that Akinbiyi threatened him at the premises of the Oyo State High Court, Ringroad, Ibadan.

But Akinbiyi, who is one of the sons of late Oba D.T Akinbiyi, who was Olubadan of Ibadanland between 1977 and 1982, said it was Ojo who allegedly threatened to ‘deal’ with him.

In response to the allegation of threat to life made against me by one Bayo Ojo Mutalubi, I wish to state categorically that the allegation is far from the truth and also unfounded. I think Mr Ojo is just looking for attention and a way to come back to being relevant  in Oyo state politics having lost his relevance as attorney general.

I have never had any confrontation with anybody in my life as I focus mainly on my political career. Bayo Ojo Mutalubi is a personal non-grata to me as I never had any relationship with him at any point in my life. I only became aware of his existence when Gov. Ajimobi brought him in as Attorney General of Oyo State after we won election for our party in 2011.

With regards to the issue that transpired on the February 5, 2020, I, as an APC member, was at High court of Justice ring road ibadan to witness the court sitting of the sacked elected chairmen of the local government and as a chairman of my ward I was present to give my political party a solidarity support.

After we were done with the matter, I was with Chief Akintola who also participated as a Counsel in the matter. While we were walking at the corridor together with more than 20 counsel and party members, on our way to where Chief Akintola’s car was parked, Bayo Ojo pushed me from behind when he was in haste/rush to greet Chief Akintola (SAN). I didn’t realise who was pushing me frantically until I looked back to see that it was Bayo Ojo struggling to get Chief’s attention. Even after i cautioned him to be careful, he kept pushing me and ordering me to step aside as he doesnt know who I amm and who my father was. His exact words to me in yoruba was ‘lo joko joor, ta ni baba ti e ni leyi’.  It was at that point I gave him a befitting answer that my father was the former Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba D T Akinbiyi who reigned between 1977 to 1982.

Unknown to me that Bayo Ojo has been nurturing grudge against my said father.

Answering who my father was is not a crime and cannot amount to threat of his life, unless he has any other ulterior motives. He threatened to deal with me because according to him,  I am a nobody. I told him I am a man just like him. Even when he was shouting at me that he will deal with me, I told him that he cannot do anything to me. I could not say more than what I said here because Chief Akintola ordered me to shut up and I walked away. That was the end of the issue because some court official told us to be quiet since some courts were still sitting.

I did not threaten him o. He was the one that threatened to deal with me since I am a nobody to him. I was surprised with what I read about me on your page. This is the truth about what happened. Thank you sir.
