The formerly neglected Olubadan Stadium has been refurbished ahead of the commencement of Ibadan Football Association League, which kicks off on May 25. The league is returning five years after the Ibadan Football Association (IFA) rested it.

A trip to the stadium by The Guardian reveals massive development taking place at the monumental edifice, which had been shut down from football action for five years by the Oyo FA.

Right from the exterior, which wall fence is being painted, to the environment, which has been cleared of weeds, the stadium looks set for a new era of activities.

Pipes have been laid round the pitch for continuous and steady wetting of the newly re-grassed football pitch.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the newly constituted board for the oldest football association in Nigeria, Biodun Alli promised lovers of grassroots football better days.

Alli enjoined the football fans in the town to support the new IFA board so that the once productive community league could be revived together.

“We have worked so much to restore Olubadan Stadium and the most revered IFA league back,” the new IFA boss said.

Other members of the IFA board are Akintola Idowu, Dauda Ladipo, Alhaja Romoke Badmos and Folorunsho Oyelakin.
