Former APC governorship aspirant, Engr. Joseph Olasukanmi Tegbe on Saturday 27th of April, 2019 received the prestigious CCII award for the Most Distinguished Ibadan Indigene (MDII) 2018.
The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) an umbrella body for all the socio-cultural societies/clubs of Ibadan extraction both at home and in diaspora. The award ceremony is part of the Ibadan week an event dedicated to celebrating the cultural heritage of Ibadan.
The event was attended by many sons and daughter of Ibadan, Oyo State and many others from across the country held at Adamasingba stadium in Ibadan.
Tegbe, in is appreciation said, “I am very honored and count it as a privilege to have received the prestigious CCII award for the Most Distinguished Ibadan Indigene (MDII) 2018. We are outliers and pacesetters in Ibadan and Oyo State at large. I remain committed to this legacy in any capacity I find myself. As I have said in many fora, our culture and natural endowment and potentials are strong enough to transform Nigeria and Africa. We must charge through a new course of peace and collective effort that will deliver the much needed empowerment to the people of our great state.”
While presenting the award, the Governor of Oyo State His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, The Executive Governor of Oyo State, said, Olasunkanmi Tegbe continues to represent Oyo State and he is happy for his exemplary behavior. The Governor further stated that this award shows Tegbe’s deep roots in the Ibadan. He said he is confident the people of Oyo will vote for him if he decides to run for office in future.
The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes main objective is to provide a forum for the coordination and harmonization of the development efforts of the constituent societies towards the promotion of economic, social, education and cultural interest of Ibadanland with a view to achieving the fullest measure of effectiveness.
