History was made on Monday as the caretaker committee Chairman of Oyo East local government, Prince Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi, distributed three brand new cars among empowerment items to celebrate his one year in office.
Beneficiaries, who besieged Kosobo headquarters of the council, venue of the event, watched with amazement and ewe as the cars’ keys were being handed over to them.
Mr Lukman Adeyanju of ward 5, Mr Amidu Eja Kabata of ward 6 and Mr Mukaila Oladokun (oko Obinrin) also of ward 6 won the first, second and third prizes (cars) respectively.
Aside from the cars, other items distributed at the empowerment programme included motorcycles, deep freezers, sewing machines, popcorn-making machines with cylinder, wheelchairs chairs, vulcanizer machines, hair dryers, barber’s clippers among others.
The people of the council area expressed surprise at the quality, cost and number of items handed to people, saying no politician in the past has ever attained the feat.
Speaking at the occasion, the host and the initiator of the empowerment programme, Prince Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi attributed the feat he achieved to the application of the wisdom he tapped from Governor Seyi Makinde.
Elucidating further, Arowosaye said the peculiar wisdom of Makinde, which he applies in governance “makes the impossible possible. The same attribute makes him stands out among his equals.”
Eminent personalities in politics, who graced the occasion, took turns to shower encomiums on the council boss, testifying that even no federal representative from Oyo has ever achieved the feat in history.
Hon Olawale Mogbonjubola, deputy chief of staff to Governor Makinde, represented his boss while Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola was also represented at the occasion.
Others include caretaker committee members in the council, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leaders at state, local and ward levels, women leaders, head of local government administration, heads of departments, the staff and well wishers.
