As the 2023 election draws nearer, Akinjide Kazeem Akinola has declared interest in Egbeda/Ona Ara seat in the house of representatives hopeful.
Akinjide made this disclosure after he was presented to the leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday in Egbeda local government.
At the meeting which had the chairman of the party in Egbeda in attendance, Alhaji Ibrahim Animasahun Agbedo, Akinjide explained that his presence was to inform party leaders about his ambition.
He promised not to abandon them if given the party’s ticket.
According to him, “You all know that the constituency has been and still lacking good representation. That is the reason why I am out to right the wrong.
“This is why I am promising never to be like the past and incumbent representatives who have used people to achieve their aims and abandoned them afterwards.
Akinjide further narrated how he has been identifying with Egbeda/Ona-Ara constituents for many years and contributing immensely to the development of the party in all areas.
Reacting to the request and intention of Akinjide, Egbeda youth leader, Mr. Adio Mutairu, expressed happiness that the the aspiring lawmaker paid them a visit.
According to him, “He, Akinjide, is not actually new to me personally, and I know his capability and a bit about his personalities.”
He urged Akinjide not to abandon the people, like the incumbent is doing, after getting to power.
He also noted that “Hon. Taiwo Michael Akintola did well for the youth in term of employments and empowerments during his tenure, unlike the present occupant which they wouldn’t want him to emulate.
Akinjide, while reacting, promised never to jettison anyone, saying that “my numbers are out there for all, and those that called me in the past know that I pick their calls or if missed, I call back.
“I have toured the wards in Egbeda and picked what each ward lacks, plans on how to tackle them as well as execute those projects, such as initiative for the students, registration of students for JAMB and WAEC and proposed scholarships package to those who perform excellently,” added.
Akinjide was accompanied by the Hon. Lanre Adeshina, immediate past chairman Inukan LCDA, Leader Fatai Tijani, Oloye Abidemi Babalola, Seriki of Akanran Land, Woman Leader Ona Ara LG, Ronke Mustapha and all honourable councilors from Ona Ara LG.
In attendance at the local meeting were leaders of the LG, which include Alh. Ganiyu Alade, Mr Olayiwole Raifu, AKA Kengbe ọrọ, Youth Leader Egbeda LG, Adio Mutairu, Sadiq Akíntúndé Akeem, Former APC Chairman, Egbeda LGA, Alhaja Juwon Zainab and Hon. Wasiu Sadare, APC State Publicity Secretary.
An Ona-Ara indigene, Akinjide revealed that he had lived most of his life in Egbeda and that the council area houses some of his properties, including his house, which means that he has been working for the advancement of both local government.
